5/15/2006 12:00:00 AM

THIS BILL WILL APPROVE AND FUND EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO HELP FIND CURES FOR "SPINAL CORD INJURY" AND MANY OTHER DEBILITATING DISEASES.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO DO AS SUGGESTED BELOW (10-15 minutes-I tried both telephone and fax and both worked easily_letter- probably too late ) & THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FROM MYSELF AND THE MANY THAT WILL BENEFIT. (For those that have a Fax but are unsure how to do it send me an email note and i will try to help you).

THIS FED BILL WILL APPROVE AND FUND Embryonic Stem Cell Research by the Federal Government. It carries enough support in both the Senate and the House to override a Whitehouse veto. This Bill HR. 810(house of representatives) / S.471 (senate) must be brought to the Senate floor, by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, so that it can be acted on. Only Senator Frist has the final power to bring a bill to the floor. This bill already has been passed by the House of Representatives.

If it does not pass now it will be delayed by a minimum of 1 year and possibly much longer.

PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING NOTES TO CONTACT SENATOR Bill FRIST (fax or call). ALSO, PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO THOSE ON YOUR DISTRIBUTION LISTS, PARTICULARLY IN OTHER STATES, AS WELL AS POSTING TO THE WEBSITES THAT are uniqe TO YOUR HANDICAP, TO MAXIMIZE INPUT TO SENATOR FRIST.

The following CAMR (Coalition for Advancement of Medical Research), details how we can help move this bill to the senate floor.

Thanks

Dear CAMR Friends,

We certainly do not have to remind you that the one year anniversary of the House of Representatives passing The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (H.R. 810) is just around the corner on May 24, 2006. We need your help now more than ever to get the bill passed in the Senate by that date!

As you know, pressure has been building here in Washington, D.C. and around the nation to urge Senator Frist, Majority Leader of the Senate, to bring H.R. 810 to the floor for a vote. In just the past 4 weeks, CAMR representatives from nearly 20 of our member organizations have met with 82 Senate offices to urge them to support passing H.R. 810 with no amendments and no alternatives by May 24, 2006. We know we have the votes for this bill to pass, but only Senator Frist has the final power to bring a bill to the floor.

CAMR has sent a letter to Senator Frist reminding him of the overwhelming support for H.R. 810 and urging him to bring up the bill. Now, we are asking you to do the same. Below is a copy of the CAMR letter. Please use our letter to craft your own message to Senator Frist and fax your letter to his office as soon as possible.

The fax number to Senator Frist’s office is: 202-228-2574 (see sample letter below)

If you do send a letter, please send a copy to CAMR’s Legislative Coordinator, Kim Love, at mamakimlove@yahoo.com.

If you are unable to fax a letter, please call Senator Frist’s office, even if you have called before, with the following message:

“I am calling to urge Senator Frist to bring H.R. 810, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, to the floor for a vote before May 24, 2006. I, along with the majority of the Senate and the American public, support this bill and want it passed with no amendments and no alternations as soon as possible.” + any of your own addition comments....

The telephone number for Senator Frist is 202-224-3135. That is the number to his Majority Leader office. If you are from his home state of Tennessee, or the number is busy, you may also call his personal office at 202-224-3344.

Thank You!

Senator William H. Frist

Majority Leader

509 Hart Senate Office Building

United States Senate

Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Frist:

I am writing on behalf of the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR) to request that you bring the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (H.R. 810) to the floor for a vote with no amendments and no alternatives this month. We remain encouraged by your public support for this bill and thank you for your efforts to date in support of H.R. 810. We are ready to take the next step with you by working together to get this bill passed by May 24, 2006.

CAMR was formed in 2001 to ensure that the voices of patients, scientists, and physicians were heard in the debate over stem cell research and the future of regenerative medicine. The Coalition currently has a broad membership base of patient groups, universities, foundations and scientific societies unified in support of advancing stem cell research. We work together to protect and expand opportunities for federal funding of biomedical research involving human embryonic stem cells.

In the past four weeks, CAMR representatives met with 82 Senate offices to request that H.R. 810 be passed by the Senate with no amendments and no alternatives before May 24, 2006, the one year anniversary of the bill’s passage in the House of Representatives. We were graciously received by all of your colleagues in our meetings, and we are now more convinced than ever that there is an overwhelming majority of support for the passage of H.R. 810 in the Senate. I urge you to not only meet the request of the majority of the American public who support stem cell research and want this bill passed, but to also grant the wishes of your colleagues who want to vote for H.R. 810, by bringing the bill to the floor as soon as possible.

We believe the time has come and that H.R. 810 has such clear and overwhelming support that it has earned its place on the Senate calendar for the month of May. We look forward to working with you to pass this legislation quickly with no amendments and no alternatives so that it will be ready for the President’s signature and enactment by May 24, 2006.

Sincerely,

Sean Tipton
